We dive into a new sermon series this coming Sunday (5.11.14). Here is a glimpse at what is in store over the next 5 Sundays:
over the next few months we’ll be studying Jesus’ teaching on a number of practical topics.
The past two sermon series we’ve preached through at Redemption have been Old Testament books of the Bible: Song of Songs and Esther. While we are faithful to connect every text of the Bible to Jesus, its always good to regularly read and preach from explicit texts of Jesus’ life and teaching contained in the gospel accounts. So, over the next few months we’ll be studying Jesus’ teaching on a number of practical topics. We’re going to select those sections of Scripture in which Jesus is answering someone’s question, he’s asking questions, and telling stories. It was common for Jesus to develop his teaching further with stories and interaction with his listeners, much like we sometimes with illustrations or doing a Q and A session after a sermon. The topics will range from internal struggles like worry, anger, and unforgiveness to controversial topics like divorce, giving, and who Jesus is. Invite your friends to come encounter the person of Jesus in his own words.
