Hey Hey Ladies! We had a AWESOME turnout last Friday night to our class and I have heard that tons of you are already implementing some of the recipes and tips. So glad that it was helpful.
I have another group of you that couldn’t come and want us to get as much up online that we can so here goes my first try at blogging!! Here watch this video that we showed first:
Okay just to clarify…I do NOT go to all three stores every week! I pick one of those stores and get what I need from that store. Also I mentioned if you have company you will need more well with my menu you won’t. I have several things on my list that make big quanities so I save those for when we have company. Here are a few:
We talked about how we go to school to educate our self, why not educate ourselves about what we are buying and spending our $ on every week? That is part of being a good steward. I wrote a list of all the regular items I buy and went to Kroger, Walmart and Save.a.lot and compared price per unit. Now I know what I need to buy and at which store. We also talked about in our house we always say that it is Josh’s job to make $ and my job to save $. It is very much a team effort and one of the ways we serve each other.
Save.a.lot is clearly going to be where I spend the most $$. I go once a month and get all my meat, canned good and other stuff. At the Save.a.lot in the Eastern Heights shopping plaza they have something called pick 5. I go in and pick 5 types of meat for 19.99. I usually get 2 pick 5’s a month which is less than 40.00 for a whole month of meat. So all the meals I have come up with are recipes that I came up with that uses these meats.
Kroger has the best deal on bread, even better than any of the bakery outlets. White, & wheat bread and even hot dog and hamburger buns are only .88 cents!! Kroger has a new brand called VALUE it is a red/white and blue package, so look for this brand when you shop here!!
Walmart seems to have the best prices on toiletries, cleaners & dog food – I go once a month and get this stuff!
So I wrote a menu of all the meals that we use to last us a month including Breakfasts, lunches, dinners & snacks:
Also here is a list of everything I bought this month:
Of course we made it fun with games and guessing prices but you can use it as you like.
For my family of five + a puppy our budget is $275.00 per month. To break it down for you that is $8.87 per day, which is $1.77 per day per person
So… if your one person 55 a month
2 people 110 per month
3 people 165 per month
4 people 220 per month
5 people 275 per month
Oh one more thing! How many times to we get back from the store and say oh I forgot ….? I know I did ALL the time. A friend of mine gave me this list years ago and I have been using it ever since. Download it and adjust it to what you buy, stick it up on your frig. and check it off as you remember. This has been very helpful for me.
There is just SOOO many other things to share so if this excites you and you want to dive in even deeper, please email me and I would love to go to lunch and help get you started!!
